Configuring an Explorer Synchronization job

An Explorer Synchronization job is created from the Explorer Synchronization template that is provided with Meridian Explorer. This type of job defines the options for publishing documents and object tags (if the Meridian Asset Management Module is installed) from a Meridian Enterprise vault to a Meridian Explorer repository.

To configure an Explorer Synchronization job:

  1. In BlueCielo Application Manager, expand the name of the publishing job in the configuration tree that you want to configure.
  2. Select the Configuration branch in the configuration tree. The job's configuration pages appear in the right pane.
  3. Click the Settings tab. The Settings configuration page appears.
  4. Click Select Vault. The Select BC-Meridian source vault dialog box appears.
  5. Click the Open Vault button. The Open Vault dialog box appears.
  6. Select the Meridian Enterprise server and vault that you want to be the source vault and click OK. The information about the selected vault appears in the Select BC-Meridian source vault dialog.
  7. If the vault is located on a different server, the Streams path option will be empty because it is inaccessible from the current server, by default. Share the path on the vault server and then click the Browse button and select the shared folder.
  8. When you have specified all of the vault options, click OK to close the Select BC-Meridian source vault dialog.
  9. In the Explorer destination repository group, Click options or type values using the descriptions in the following table.
Option Description

Note    Redlines in may not be edited in Meridian Explorer unless the Feedback page is installed and integrated with the Meridian Asset Management Module.

Import hotspots

Imports Meridian Enterprise hotspots into the selected repository so that they can be viewed and activated.

Note    Hotspots may not be edited in Meridian Explorer as they can in Meridian Enterprise.

Import thumbnails

Imports Meridian Enterprise thumbnail images into the selected repository so that they can be viewed. To keep the thumbnails up-to-date, create another publishing job with the BlueCielo.Explorer.Thumbnails job template as described in Configuring an Explorer Thumbnails job.

Note    Renditions are always imported into the repository.

  1. Click to save your changes.
  2. Continue configuration as described in each of the applicable following topics.

Configuring the preceding options completes only a part of configuring an Explorer Synchronization job. The remaining parts are configuring object mappings and the synchronization options.

By default, a new Explorer Synchronization job maps every vault object to a corresponding repository object. However, these mappings may be insufficient or excessive, depending on your requirements. You should review the default mappings and modify or exclude them, if necessary. The mappings can be configured whenever changes need to be made.

Modifying the object mappings allows you to:

Note    Repository synchronization cannot be started until all vault objects have either been configured correctly or excluded from synchronization.

Configuring the various mappings is described in the following topics.
